I know that this is not the only technique Sam will be sharing, so stay tuned for more on the way! Plus, Sam is joining us for our June new release and this month’s challenges.

Samantha Olden

Hi there, my name is Samantha and you can find me posting on my corner of the internet at Instagram – @samjolden and my website sams-studio.ca. Some of my favourite things in life are photography, baking cookies (to eat of course), family pizza and movie night, visiting and exploring new places and of course card making. I was introduced to card making by my bestie, of well over 30 years, about 5 years ago and I haven’t looked back.

I love this hobby because it never gets dull, there is always a new technique or fun new stamp set to use and when your finished creating you have a little piece of you, that you can give to someone else.

I am very happy to be back joining the Your Next Stamp team. Thanks so much guys for having me. I love how playful and fun their stamps are to create with.

Generally speaking I find masculine cards a tougher card to make. However if I go with a cleaner style and a simple colour palette it usual tends to work out. For this card, I pulled out my wave panel die which I have used so many times. This is the first time I have used the die to create a mask and paint the interior parts.

Usually when masking on a card I use the typical masking paper you get, but that doesn’t always work so well when you start adding water colouring into the mix. So this was a first for me, I die cut the wave panel mask out of Contact Paper. The end result is a very cool single layer watercolored piece that you can add whatever die you like to on top.

There is more on the way from Sam! It is going to be a fun month!

Happy Stamping!
