Sprinkles and Bubbles

Guest Kim Taylor brought Sprinkles back for this card – Sprinkles the bunny!

From Kim:

I just adore this little bunny so I had to make another card with the Sprinkles Coffee & Tea stamp set

I used the YNS Bubbles Stencil with some Jade Vine Paper Glaze and kept the look fairly monochromatic by using similar shades of Ohuhu alcohol markers for the tea cup.  I fussy cut the image and used YNS Pop Dots for some dimension to help it stand out.  The sentiment is from the same set and done in black to tie in the matting and make the teal shades pop!  This is as close to clean and simple as I get!   I love that you can take one really cute image and make it the focal point of the card.

A Little Magic

Guest Kim Taylor has 2 cards for today, both using the Magical Wishing Wells stamp and die sets.

From Kim:

For these cards I wanted the fun of making a wish to come through in the bright happy rainbow colours!  I used the Magical Wishing Wells stamp and die set for the images and sentiments.

For the landscape card I did a relaxed watercolour technique with some liquid watercolours from Hero Arts. The images were painted with Tombow markers and given dimension with YNS Pop Dots. A little extra sparkle was added with some YNS Gumdrops

The mini slimline was made with some Distress Oxides and some ink blending with a stencil. The main image is also from the Wishing Wells set and painted with watercolour markers and added to the card with more YNS Pop Dots.  I also stamped the ‘wishing’ with black pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.  I love that this sentiment has a die cut!

I have to add that one of my fav things about YNS other than they are also Canadian, is the wonderful artwork of their stamps and the fact that their dies are so well designed! When you look at the wishing wells you can see how it cut around the inner details and not just the outside! A small thing perhaps but for me it’s a very much appreciated one!
I hope you find inspiration in these cards and try to create a little wishing well magic of your own!

Smooshing

Guest Kim Taylor blended inks and powders, smooshing away to create the background on today’s card.

From Kim:

For this sweet A2 card I pulled a background panel out of my stash that has a lot of shimmer and is done in blues and oranges and just made me think of spring. That little mouse holding the flowers from the Flowers and Smiles Stamp set, said ‘use me please’, so of course I had to.   The sentiments are also from the same stamp set. I used pigment ink on the panel so that it would give a crisp image on the mix of mediums. The image is coloured with my Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, then cropped down and matted on black cardstock. I love to mat something this bright on black as it just makes the colours really pop.  Sat sideways on a coral background attached to the card base I added some Pop Dots behind the Sweet Friend sentiment and some sparkly Gumdrops for the finishing touches.  I hope this card makes you smile!

One of the things I love to do when I hit a creative blank, is to get out my messy stuff and make oooooodles of backgrounds.  Then when I have a project in mind or just the urge to create, I have lots of inspiration at my fingertips! This panel came from a session of smooshing inks and mica powders.  Though I had some doubt when I started, I am very happy with the end result.

Father’s Day Take Two

Guest Kim Taylor has another Father’s Day card for us today, this one has the other 2 pet groupings from the Photo Booth Thumbs Up Stamp set.

From Kim:

I had so much fun making last week’s card with the Photo Booth Thumbs Up Stamp and Die set that I had to make a second!!  I ink blended the 6×6 Paw Prints Stencil on an A2 panel of Hammermill 100 lb cardstock and trimmed it down to 4″ x 2.75″ getting two pieces to make two cards.   I wanted to keep the cards on the clean and simple side so that these cute critters from the Photo Booth Thumbs Up set really had a chance to shine!    Accented with YNS Gumdrops from the Perfect Blend and Latte sets.
