Let’s Layer with Scallops

The Your Next Stamp store still had lots of scallop dies in stock. Basics that you find yourself reaching for again and again are available at great prices.

Kendra Sand, who was on the YNS Design Team for many years created these 2 cards. Starting off with a CAS scallop layer and moving on to a fun shaker scene with a scallop layer grounding it all.

Summer Seas

Today, guest Kim Taylor is celebrating the end of summer with two water themed cards.

From Kim:

For this week I was feeling the end of summer approaching I think so I went with a nautical vibe using the Nautical Fun Stamp and Die set.

Both cards are top folding A2 white card bases and all the images are coloured with Ohuhu alcohol markers.

The first one is a watercolour wash background and an underwater layering stamp from my stash that I used to give these adorable critters a home.

Card two is a combination of ink blending for the sand and sky, and part of a water wave background stamp used for the waters edge.

Crafty Tip : Don’t forget to mix and match what you have in your stash!  It’s a great way to stretch our supplies and get an infinite amount of looks from one set!

Colorful Thanks

Today, guest Kim Taylor is sharing a colorful thank you card.

From Kim:

For this happy bright project I used the So Many Stars Stencil from YNS for the background and ink blended a rainbow with some dye based inks. The Pick Me Up stamp set is small but mighty and I used it and the coordinating dies as the focal point for this top folding A2 card – the stencil, stamp & dies are still available at the time of posting this. I used the inks as paint and lightly painted in each of the balloons. The letters were stamped in the coordinating colours and cut out with the die. The sentiment is stamped in Versafine and the whole front is matted on a black mat and placed on a white card base.

Crafty Tip: I save my scraps of white card stock and use them for building dimension. The main image has 3 extra layers underneath it for dimension. I like this method as it really adds stability to an image that has fine cut outs like these balloon strings. It also keeps it from bending during mailing.

Baby Blessings

Today, guest Kim Taylor has a sweet baby card for you featuring the Baby Blessings stamp set.

From Kim:

Who doesn’t need a cute baby card now and then right?  This card is made with the YNS Baby Blessings set

I kept it very simple with an ink swiped background aka swinking (iykyk), some fluffy clouds, a sun and the image of the stork and baby.  The images are coloured with alcohol markers and some are highlighted with an Aqua Shimmer Pen.  This stamp set is still available as of today.  One of my favourite things about sets like these is how versatile they are. You can use just one image or build a whole scene with the set.

Latte Happy Vibes

Today, guest Kim Taylor is sharing coffee and donuts from the Latte Happy Vibes stamp set.

From Kim:

For today’s cards we have a 3-fer!This project was a lot of fun because this stamp set is so cute!!!  Colouring all the adorable images from the YNS Latte Happy Vibes Stamp & Die set and turning them into 3 cards only took a couple of hours and the end results are so worth the time!

The first one isn’t a true single layer card but I kept it fairly flat by doing most of the background directly on the card base.  I did some light, intentionally splotchy ink blending on the card base after masking off the bottom 1/3. I stamped a brick wall background stamp, pulled off the masking and moved it to cover the wall.  Then I inked the sidewalk a dark grey and added some green paper that I tore to be the grass. The sentiments in the set are equally fun and adorable so I used one of those as well.

For card two I repeated the process on a card panel so that there would be a small white framing margin to give it a slightly different look.  I also used a speech bubble die for the sentiment this time to match the ‘active’ feel of the card.

For card three I repeated the same process as the second card, varying the brick wall colours a bit.  I like to use neutrals in the background so that the brighter colours of the images really pop!

I hope that these cards inspire you to break out your smaller images and really see what you can create!
