Sam Olden has a trio of cuteness and techniques for you today. A sloth, Hammie and lots of hearts, with the Whimsy Heart 6×6 stencil prominent on all 3 cards. Each card features a different stenciling technique.

Technique 1 – Stencilling over a Mask

Add the negative portion of a circle mask to A2 card front. Lay the Whimsy Heart Stencil over the circle mask. Ink blend over the stencil. Remove Whimsy Heart Stencil and blend a little more colour over the hearts before removing the circle mask.

Technique 2 – Partial Stenciling

Ink blend lightly over the background, slightly heavy around the outside of the card stock. Now for the partial stenciling, take the Whimsy Heart Stencil and randomly cover up portions of the ink blended card stock. Blend additional ink over stencil. Move and repeat until you are happy with how it looks.

Technique 3 – Clear Embossing over a Stencil:

To create the focal part of the card. Lightly ink blend distress ink over piece of card stock. Make sure the ink blended piece is fully dry at this point. Lay the Whimsy Heart Stencil on top of the ink blended piece and apply embossing ink. Smoosh the ink pad onto the stencil or use an ink blending tool if you find that easier. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Add some more distress ink over the background.

So which of Sam Olden’s techniques will you try first? Are you a fan of stenciling?

Happy Stamping!
