CAS Card Series

Hello everyone, Tracy here to share my take on a Clean and Simple (CAS) card.

I love CAS cards; however I will admit that it is not a style that comes easily to me. I like to create CAS cards to highlight an image or technique. It will be a card that really allows an element to take center stage and be the main focal point on my project.

On my CAS card today, I wanted to showcase the amazing Heart Doily Die Set.

I used all of the pieces of this die set on different colours of card stock and then quickly assembled them like a puzzle on my card. I avoided the additional bulk of multiple layers by inlaying my die pieces into my white background. It really is a quick technique and you can create fun patterns with this die set using as many colours of card stock as you wish.

The sentiment was created using the Skinny Font Alpha Set.

I love decorating the inside of my cards. I was able to use some of the remaining pieces from the Heart Doily die as a frame for my inside sentiment, which is from the Heartfelt Sentiments set.

CAS Card Series Inspiration with Thanh

Good Monday morning, YNS friends!

It’s Thanh here with my CAS post for the series. If you’ve missed any of the Design Team’s CAS posts, here’s a list of everyone’s projects so far:

Let’s review some of the basics of CAS projects:

While I’ve been enjoying the last days of the summer weather, I’m super excited that Starbucks brought back the Pumpkin Spice Latte early this year and I’ve been enjoying this delicious drink for the past week! Even on hot days, I’ve been asking for the latte to be iced. Yum! My design inspiration for this card comes from the Starbucks gift cards for Fall 2014:

While my end product always looks CAS – I can tell you that in the making of this card, it was anything but! I showed Karen the end photo and she asked me how I always make things look so good but I guarantee you that while in the midst of creating, I’m such a mess! This is how my desk usually looks when I’m in the process and I’m not going to lie, this is still on the tidy side:

CAS Card Series

Hi all! It’s Maureen here to share my card for our CAS card series:

I love making Clean And Simple cards! I used the new Scripty Word Die Set, the Flourishes clear stamp set, and some Black Gumdrops. You may think that you can’t add texture to CAS cards, but you can using the Flourishes set just around the edges of your panel. This still leaves lots of white space, but helps your eye travel around the card.

You may also think that you can’t use embellishments on CAS card, but our fabulous Gumdrops are the perfect finishing touch – they add just a little dimension and you can use several of them and not overwhelm the card.

Design Team Tuesday – CAS!

Hi everyone! Laura here with a card to share for our CAS card series here at YNS.

I consider my own card making style to be fairly CAS (clean and simple)… I like my cards to have clean lines, one major focal point, and I do very little embellishing.

I used the new Bitty Bugs set today. These tiny bugs are a perfect focal point for a CAS card with a lot of white space.

For a long time I thought CAS meant one layer and flat. It doesn’t have to be that way though… you can add simple details while still keeping a clean design.

Here, I popped up the spider’s body to add a little dimension, and to give room to tuck the “web” behind it. I also drew in thin black lines on each panel… it adds a bit of interest without being too bold to take away from the design.

I hope you are getting lots of inspiration for your CAS card making!

Here is the card I created using Jungle Critter 2

White always comes to mind when I think of Clean and Simple so I decided to go with 2 layers…an embossed texture and then I popped my main image up for added dimension.

Design Team Tuesday – CAS Style!

Hello YNS Friends!! Jen Roach here and it’s time for another Design Team Tuesday post. Last week we started a new theme for our Tuesday posts. In case you missed it, this time around we are featuring CAS (Clean and Simple) projects.

Those of you who follow my work know that I like to cram as much stuff as possible on my cards —it’s the scrapbooker in me! So today I’m showing you the clean and simple style with a twist.

Here’s the card I created using the new Sea Creatures one and Sea Sentiments sets. I consider my card “clean” from the white colour palette I used and “simple” because even though it looks really fancy with all the embossing and layers it literally took me less than 10 minutes to make:

1. Die cut octagon and scalloped octagons out of white paper. Stamp bubbles and seaweed onto image panel in green and blue inks. Stamp blow fish image onto white paper, colour, cut out and adhere to image panel with pop dot. Stamp sentiment in black ink onto image panel.

2. Die cut scalloped background out of white paper and emboss with embossing folder and adhere to card base.

3. Adhere image panel to card front, embellish with ribbon and Stickles.

Going CAS with Dies

Hello everyone!

Today I am kicking off a new weekly series on the Your Next Stamp Blog…CAS!

What is CAS? (Besides being one of my favorite styles of cards!)

CAS is the acronym for Clean And Simple

Picture a card with lots of white or open space, few embellishments, and one focal point. This type of card is uncluttered, quick and easy to create. Less is more when it comes to a CAS card.

I once read that CAS is the equivalent of a LBD (Little Black Dress) for card makers.

Now on to my card featuring dies as the focal point, lots of white space and a bit of patterned paper – I always like to throw in a little pattern on my CAS cards.
