Seventh Day of Gift Giving |Bookmark/Tag Die Set with Deborah

Happy Monday everyone!

If you haven’t been following, Your Next Stamp is doing a series on the 12 Days of Gift Giving with the Design Team making items for easy gift giving ideas using various dies in the YNS Store.  Today is day 7 and I am happy to share with you an easy ornament using simple circle dies and the Bookmark/tag die set.

One of my sons plays Lacrosse and during the season last Spring, we received some wonderful action shots during the championship game.  I thought it would be a fun idea to make an ornament using one of the shots to remember that game and for my son to have a memory item for the tree.  Here are the dies I used to make this project:

To start, I chose a photo I wanted from my computer to be printed out on basic card stock. This was ok to do because I knew I was going to laminate it.  You could always print it out on photo paper to eliminate the lamination. Once I found the picture, I used Photoshop to size it so that when I cut it out using my dies, the main image will be centered. Once printed, I cut the photo out and placed it in between the laminating sheets and ran it through the lamination machine.
When that was finished, I ran the picture through my die cutting machine with the chosen circle size for the ornament.
Using red card stock, I used the largest sized Bookmark die to be the topper of the ornament, cutting about 3/4 of the size.  You could always shorten it to your liking since you will have two circles holding this in place.

I ended up trimming a bit more off the tag to rest nicely between the two circles.

Speaking of two circles, I used the largest sized Circle Die to cut out two circles to be the “ornament ball.”  This is also the time to use the coordinating stitched circle marks to stitch the outline of one (or both) of the circle.

Adhere the circles to the tag to make it now come to life as an ornament.

Voila!

Now choose a coordinating patterned paper to place in the center for your photo to overlay with cutting it out with the next smaller circle die.  For mine, I used some Studio Calico paper in red with some white swirls.

Now adhere the photo to the center of that.

The ornament is starting to take shape, but I wanted to add a little more.  It needed some wording, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the year, the team name, and LAX in black card stock.

I positioned the lettering where I wanted it before adding some glue dots to the back and placing them on top using my fine needle tipped tweezers.

This is almost done, but it needs some ribbon for hanging and of course just a little bit of bling by using the new Holly Jolly gumdrops.

Because this was for my son, I knew I couldn’t bling it up too much or girly-fy it with more ribbon.  I kept it simple and this project makes for an easy project for all ages! Here is the finished look on the tree:

I sure hope you enjoyed this tutorial and hope I was able to help with another idea for gift giving this year.  You can find all the dies and gumdrops mentioned in the YNS Store ready for your creative ideas.  Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a great start to the week!

Sixth Day of Gift Giving | Treat Topper Die Set with Laura

12 days gift giving badge
Hi friends!
Laura here for Day 6 of the 12 Days of Gift Giving!
Today I’m sharing an easy gift using one of my favorite dies, the Treat Topper Die Set.
 KissmasTopper4LN
You’re going to need a bag to hold your gift. Here are my favorite options…
Bag1LN
These little zipper-seal bags are available in the jewelry section, and I’ve been able to find them at every big box craft store, and also Wal-Mart. They come in various sizes, but the 4″ x 6″ bag works best with the die.
Bag2LN
I also like the Wilton brand treat bags. This bag is longer, (measuring 4″ x 9″) and opens up to give room for bulkier gifts.
Bag2OpenLN
I’ve been able to find these at the craft stores in the baking supply section. I have also seen them at my local dollar store in the party supply section… sometimes they even have cute seasonal print options.
The Treat Topper Die is so easy to use… just cut, fold on the pre-scored line, and decorate!
I used a sentiment from Santa Express Train Carts, along with dies from the Whatnot Seasons Die Set and Fishtail/Banner Die Set One.
KissmasTopper1LN
Now, all you have to do is attach the topper to the bag… you can just staple it on and be done, but I like to attach mine using scor-tape.
KissmasTopper2LN
Any tape width will do… I only had 1/4″ on hand, so I added a few strips across both sides of the inside.
KissmasTopper3LN
Remove the liner from the tape on one side, and line up the top of the bag with the center score line on the topper.
KissmasTopper4LN
Remove the tape from the opposite side, adhere, and you’re done!!
This die makes packaging up little gifts and treats so simple! For stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, party favors… I hope you are inspired to use this die for some of your holiday gift giving!
Be sure to stop by the Your Next Stamp Blog tomorrow for day 7 to see the amazing project Deborah will be sharing.

Fifth Day of Gift Giving | Slider Die with Kymona

Hello everyone!! Kymona here with day 5 of Your Next Stamp’s amazing  12 Days of Gift Giving series!!

12-days-gift-giving-badge-547x226

I’m super excited about this series because it forced me to look at YNS dies differently. I’ve always had a love for packaging but rarely get to do it.

So today I have a super easy tutorial for you: Pop Up Gift Card Holder made with the Slider/Spinner Die!!  I learned how to create this holder sometime last year and never got a chance to try it. So why not now!!

Take a look at what we are going to make:

Outside:

Gift Card Holder 1

Inside:

Gift Card Holder 3

Are you ready to see how this is done! Check this out:

First: You have to cut your gift card holder base to 9-3/8 by 5. Then you need to score it. On the long side: 9-3/8 side, score at 2-7/8 and 7-1/16. On the short side: 5 score 1/2 on the left side and the right side.
Score lines

Second: You have to cut down the 1/2 inch score line to the 7-1/16 score line. Leaving the bottom for the card holder.

Cut edges

Third: Then I rounded the edges of the short panel without the flaps.

Rounded edges

Fourth: Then you add strong tape to the two bottom flaps to create a pocket.

Tabs

Fifth: Then you pull the tape backing off and carefully line up the side and press closed.

Closed base

Sixth: Then you have to cut a smaller card base (4-7/8 by 3-5/8) that you gift card will be attached to.

Inside piece

Seventh: Then you have to score this to 1/2 on one side and 3-1/2 on the other side. Then you have to round the edge on the 3-1/2 score line to match the base.

Inside score

Now take a look at both pieces before we go any further.

Side by side

Eighth: Now its time to add the ribbon. I cut a 20in piece of ribbon and then cut that in half and taped it down on the top flap on opposite ends.

Ribbon

Ninth: Then I added tape to the inside panel.

Tape downside

Tenth: Once you take off the backing of the tape, you have to insert the small panel inside the base. You fold the small flap and side the panel into the base.

Insert small piece

Eleventh: Once you insert the small panel, make sure you line the small insert up with the base at the top and press down on the tape area, so that it stays.

Pieces put together

Take a look at the closed holder.

Closed

Twelfth: Then I cut the front panel to 3-3/4 by 2-1/2 out of pattern paper. I also cut a white piece of cardstock to the same size for the backing. Then I used YNS Slider/Spinner Die to cut a opening in the patten paper.

Slider panel

Thirteen: Then I lined my pattern paper up with the white cardstock and placed my sentiment in place to stamp. I used the Misti to help position it.

Misti

Fourteen: Once the sentiment was stamped I placed the patten paper on top to make sure the sentiment is lined up.

Sentiment

Fifteen: Then I builded the slider with dimes and foam tape.

dime slider slider building

Sixteen: Once your slider is built you can decorate it later. To add it to your white backing you need to add a lot of foam tape so it doesn’t fall in.

Foam tape

Seventeen: Then you add the panel to the front of your gift card holder.

Put together

Eighteen: Then you add your gift card to the inside panel. I added a small strip of adhesive to the top of the gift card so that it stays in place.

Completed

Then you added what you would like to the slider for decoration. I added an embellishment.

To keep it closed I added a piece of velcro to the flap. Nice finish!!

Take another look:

Gift Card Holder 3

When you push it closed the panel slides down into the holder.

Sorry for the long tutorial! I wanted to make sure you were able to create one for yourself!

Super cute!! What do you think? Would you like a gift card holder like this one?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Fourth Day of Gift Giving | Winter Fun Tag Die Set with Anita

Hello friends!  Anita here with Day Four of the 12 Days of Gift Giving.   Today I am sharing a project using the Winter Fun Tag Die Set.

I love making my own gift tags to dress up presents.  You can make a plain and inexpensive gift bag look fabulous just by dressing it up with a handmade tag.

Here’s the picture of the finished tags I made.  My grandson loves puppies and my granddaughter loves kitties so I thought these sweet little shaker tags would be perfect to go on one of their packages.  These are really simple to make and they’re definitely one-of-a-kind, right?

For my tags I used the Winter Fun Tag Die Set.  I started by die cutting four of the tags from the set.

Next I used the smallest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangle Die Set.  I centered the rectangle die on the tag and used some tape to hold it in place and then ran it through my die cutting machine.

I did this to 2 of the tags to create the shaker window.  These pieces will be the front of the tag.

I cut 2 pieces of acetate a little larger than the shaker windows.  I apologize for the glare from the acetate but I wasn’t able to get a picture with no glare.  Turn the front pieces of the tags face down and apply a thin line of glue to the backs and adhere the acetate.  I also applied some foam tape around the edge.  My foam tape was too wide so I just trimmed it down until it fit around the edge of the tag without showing through the window.  Be careful not to leave any gaps in the foam tape because that’s what holds the sequins inside the shaker – you don’t want those pretty sparklies escaping, right?

In the photo above, the front of the tag is face down on the left.  The tag on the right is the back of the tag.  Since the sequins always seem to settle to the bottom of the shaker, I like to adhere a few sequins in the “upper portion” of the shaker window on the inside of the back tag.  Once you’ve glued a few sequins to the back part of the tag let the glue completely dry before you assemble the shaker tag (otherwise you end up with a wet, sticky mess – ask me how I know lol).  Once the glue is dry, remove the backing on the foam tape and place the back tag onto the front tag.

This is what your tag will look like at this point.  Then you can decorate it any way you like.

I used the sweet pup and cat from the Cozy Christmas Jessica stamp set.  I colored them with copics and cut them out using the coordinating die set.  I also used the snowflake from the Winter Fun Tag Die Set.  I added some Glamour Dust to the pup’s stocking, the cat’s hat, and the snowflakes and adhered a Holly Jolly Sparkly Gumdrop to each snowflake.

I hope I’ve inspired you to use the Winter Fun Tag Die Set to create your very own gift tags this holiday season!  Be sure to stop by the Your Next Stamp Blog each day to see the amazing projects the team will be sharing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Anita

Second Day of Gift Giving | Little Peek a Boo Door Dies with Tracy

Hello everyone! Tracy here, welcoming you back for day 2 of our newest design team series, the 12 Days of Gift Giving.  Yesterday, Thanh started off our gift ideas with a fabulous gift bag featuring the Peek a Boo Popper dies.

Today, I am excited to share with you an Advent Calendar I made for my daughters using the Little Peek a Boo Door dies.  I created the calendar to be 12 x 12 in size. Once the kids are finished with the Christmas countdown, I will add the Advent Calendar to my scrapbook album.

To make this calendar I used the square die from the Little Peek a Boo Door dies. I separated the pieces of the die removing the scallop. I used the inner square which measures 2 inches square. I cut strips of paper in red and green just wider than 2 inches, to make my die cutting a little easier.

I cut 12 red and 12 green doors using the two inner dies of this set.

To mat the doors, I cut 24 squares from black cardstock, which measured 2.25 inches.

Using my computer (in Word), I created a table with squares that were just under 2 inches square and typed up my list of Advent activities.

Use your paper trimmer to cut out each of your activities and adhere them directly to the black cardstock.

For your door, use 1/8 inch score tape and add adhesive around the outer edge of your die cut door piece. Be very careful not to apply the tape over your perforated line. You can also use liquid glue, however you will need to apply it very carefully. You don’t want it leaking under the portion of the door that needs to open.

Adhere a strong adhesive to the back of your activity (black cardstock) piece and stick this down on your background page in your desired order. To assist with the planning for each days surprise I organized everything on my calendar, then I planned out the order on the advent calendar. Some of the activities include making things or finding a present, so I want to make sure I am prepared for those days. It also allowed me to plan for some of the more involved actives (i.e. baking, crafts, watching movies and extra technology time) to fall on the weekend or during Christmas holidays.

Decorate the doors before you adhere them to your calendar.

Here is a look at my full 24 day Advent Calendar. I used both 12 x 12 and the 6 x 6 paper from Simple Stories Claus & Co. The numbers were from a collection called Dear Santa from Photoplay. You could also use stickers, stamps or die cut the numbers.

In addition to the patterned paper, I decorated the doors using various stamps, dies and of course yummy Holly Jolly Sparkly Gumdrops.

YNS Supplies: Stamps: Holiday Sentiments, Sprinkles Knit Happens (Winter hat), Cup of Cheer, Dies: Little Peek a Boo door, Mini Gingerbread Boy and Girl, Front Door (wreath), Mini Ornaments, Sled with Presents and Winter Mitten (snowflake).

Each day the girls will have a fun activity or treat to enjoy.

I will be taking pictures of each day’s Advent surprise. Later I will include the calendar and the photos in my scrapbook.

This is a great way to change up your count down to Christmas, using the Little Peek a Boo Door dies. Stop back tomorrow to check out the inspiration that Sue will be sharing for Day 3.

Have a fabulous and crafty day.
